So two weeks have gone by since the start of the semester. This semester marks my second last semester with NUS, which means my last year with NUS as an undergraduate.
I have really mixed feelings about it. On one side, I'll be going out to work soon, meaning I can be financially independent. On the other side, stress from work will start to set in, I'll have less time to meet up with friends, and I have no idea what I really want to do yet. Yes, I have a rough idea on what to do, but what I REALLY want to be doing... is a blur. Though so I shall seek God for help that he'll guide me to go to the path where he has intended for me to go.
Anyway, I started school struggling to recover from my illness. My flat-mate is nice, she offered me manuka honey for my cough.
So the first two weeks of school has been... hectic. So much more hectic than the previous sems. Then again, it's the final year, so how can it not? Projects are pouring in on top of final year project. I've got so much to learn. Fortran code, physics of my FYP and design project, how to use solidworks, etc... which are all outside of the technical aspects in the modules. Oh wells.
Though so I did have some 'fun'. Rebonded (and cut) my hair, and went out for an outing (to ice skate) with the church dancers. And yea, the 'muumy' thing kinda stuck and I've "unoffically" gained a son that called me 'mummee' (pun on my surname). More or less because he was the first person to start calling my mummy and the rest 'responded' with messages based on our partnering during the dance. And probably the least important factor (or might not even be a factor at all) is that he's my direct junior from NY Dance.
On another note, I started school with blue and pink nails! <3
I did my nails at For Your Nails Only. It's located in Bishan and is close to my house. <3. Been there for more than a year now, and since my second visit everytime I visit there for manicure is to do gel manicures, with or without design. She has at least 3 gel polish brands. Three reasons why I keep going back:
1. Her price is one of the cheapest around for gel manicures
2. Artistic and Harmony chips very fast on my nails (the record, 2 days later I saw a fairly large chip, going by the fact that Harmony markets its polishes to last for up to 3 weeks with no chipping). She's one of those who carries other brands while majority of the salons around only have Harmony and/or Artistic.
3. She's very very friendly. :)
Some other nail designs that she did for me that I like:
This particular set of nails, I wore for my 21st birthday party. Still in love with the design. :)
This green set of nails, I wore it during my exam period last semester. Still loving it. :)
So anyway, it's late, and I'm sleepy. I shall head off to bed now. No wait, I still need to transfer my data from my lappy to the hard disk. This laptop's been giving me problems since Day 1 I got it back from the second servicing, but something tells me it's going to crash really soon. I was kind of cheated into getting this laptop. So since I started on it...
Well, I got this laptop from the matriculation fair, where it was said to have reduced prices for laptops for students. So yea, I dun have the brochure with me anymore, but for this laptop that I have (Fujitsu S Series Model SH760), it wrote that the original price was $5k plus. The price it was being sold at was somewhere along the range of $2200 plus. So I called my mum and she said Fujitsu is a good brand to get so I got it. And guess what, it crashed on my twice within the first year because of the same hard disk problem, both times one week before some assignment was due. Then the battery life went down drastically from 6 hours life to now less than 2 hours. And after the second servicing, the display driver would always stop working on me (if the display driver doesn't malfunction at least once per week, I would think that something is wrong). Then I realised that the laptops that the school sells are not manufactured in Japan, but instead from China. How I found out? I needed to reinstall the system for another Fujitsu that I bought from the school, and the notifications thereafter come out in TRADITIONAL chinese. Not even simplified.
Ok. I should stop ranting, and get hopefully do something useful. Till then. :)
